History of NAI West Michigan
In 1979, Tol Realty & Construction was formed by Bob Tol with the addition of Doug Taatjes. Taatjes & Tol, Inc. became official in 1999 as a merger of ideas, experience, and contacts. Their goal was to create a professional commercial/industrial real estate organization to assist the business community in attaining individual business objectives in a personalized manner.
When Grand Real Estate was formed in 1989, David J. Smies, founder, set out to develop a diversified real estate firm providing a full range of office leasing, industrial, commercial and investment real estate services in the capacity of broker, agent and/or consultant for their clients. Their philosophy was to be both professional and personal, offering knowledge, experience and expertise to each client.
As a result of similar business philosophies and goals shared by both companies, it was a natural conclusion for Taatjes & Tol and Grand Real Estate to come together to better serve the West Michigan real estate market. NAI Global came to West Michigan looking for an affiliate, and the rest is history.
